June Events and Festivals in Northwest Florida

Are you ready for pirates and watermelon? June events and festivals in Northwest Florida include both and our calendar has the scoop. Get details on the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival in Fort Walton Beach, the Fiesta of Five Flags in Pensacola, and two of Florida's longest-running watermelon festivals. Also be sure to check out the free concerts in Destin and Panama City Beach.

June is National Great Outdoors Month and it's the perfect time to be outdoors in Northwest Florida. In addition to these festivals you can get out and visit a state parkhead for the beach, pick some fresh blueberries or go hiking, camping or kayaking.

It's impossible to track down all of the June events happening all across the region. This is only a sampling, but it should give you a start to finding some fun things to do with your weekends.

65th Annual Fiesta of Five Flags

Date: May 31-June 6, 2014
Hours: Varied; Boat Parade 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31; Street Parade 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5
Where: Downtown Pensacola
Cost: Parades are Free, Tickets for the All Krewe Ball on June 4 are $37.50

Celebrate the founding of Pensacola with a variety of events in locations around the city including a boat parade and the official landing of Don Tristan DeLuna. Other events include a street parade, sand-sculpting contest and several krewe balls.


59th Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival

Date: June 5-7, 2014
Hours: Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Friday 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Landing Park, Downtown Fort Walton Beach

Avast ye swabs, it be pirates in Fort Walton Beach come to take control of the city, but it's all good fun in one of the country's longest running pirate festivals. It all starts Thursday with the famous Torchlight Parade, and ends Saturday evening with fireworks. In between there's a Pirate skirmish and a two-day festival with live music, food, and beer.


7th Annual Digital Graffiti

Date: June 6 & 7, 2014
Hours: 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Where: Alys Beach in South Walton

64th Annual Watermelon Festival

Date: June 20 & 21, 2014
Hours: Friday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time Zone)

A tribute to the watermelon growers of Jefferson County, this old fashioned watermelon festival includes a parade, live music, children's theater, ghost tour of haunted Monticello, arts & crafts, food vendors and the 5K Melon Run.


5th Annual Blueberry Bash

Date: June 21, 2014
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

58th Annual Panhandle Watermelon Festival

Date: June 27 & 28, 2014
Hours: Friday Concert 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday Festival 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Don't eat the seeds, spit 'em, at this old fashioned Watermelon Festival with a seed spitting contest, horseshoe tournament, parade, beauty pageant and street fair. There'll be live music, clogging and square dancing, gospel and bluegrass and a concert with Grammy nominated country legend John Anderson.
