There are quiet a few in fact, offering a wide variety of trees that can be grown in the North Florida climate and soils.I learned about Southern tree farms many years ago when one Christmas my family and I decided to go out to a local farm and cut our own tree. It was a hoot, with the three girls running all over the place, each finding a different tree to love. Each time they declared their find to be "the perfect tree" until they suddenly spotted another one a few yards away and THAT became the new perfect tree. It took us an hour and a half to pick out one tree, but the memories we have of that day have lasted for over 20 years. So, whether you want to choose and cut your own tree or are looking for a living rooted tree to plant after the holidays, Christmas tree farms offer a great family outing that will have lasting memories. Some of the farms feature gift shops so you can buy your tree and decorate it all in one fell swoop. Some have special events like visits from Santa, hay rides, and other family activities as well as snacks and sweet treats. Many of these Christmas tree farms provide saws, twine, netting and other things to help you get your tree from the field to your living room. Some will even let yo pick out your tree and will cut it for you, which is great if you are saw-challenged like I am. Happy Hunting!
